Prunes are dried plums and Sunsweet uses the Prune d’agen plum which is selected for its quality and great taste.  Naturally sweet and tender, our select prunes are packed with nutrition and flavor, and a perfect food for your active, healthy lifestyle.

Sunsweet Prunes are grown in California, USA, where Sunsweet growers control the largest prune acreage in the world. The rich soil of the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys, combined with a long warm growing season provides a perfect environment to nurture our prunes.

Sunsweet growers use our innovative agricultural practices to carefully monitor our prune orchards and when the plum has reached maturity we are ready for harvesting which typically takes place in August and September.

SPS Pitting system

Finally our unique pitting system (SPS) sets us apart from any other producer. Each prune is pitted individually using a system that’s so precise it can seal in all the prune’s lush juices and nutrients whilst gently removing the stone.
